Oleksandr Kornienko → Oleksandr Korniyenko – Correct transliteration from Ukrainian to English [1] Mykytal (talk) 13:26, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- If there is WP:COMMONNAME, we use it. If there is no commonname, as it happens to the vast majority of Ukrainian subjects, we use WP:UKR, which would give the current name. There is no single "correct" romanization of Ukrainian names. Ymblanter (talk) 08:32, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
- My fault, Korniienko indeed. Ymblanter (talk) 01:30, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support, although not for the merits of the proposal. The most common standards for transliteration would actually yield Korniienko, and all three spellings are used on the Rada website.[2] But the subject uses the proposed spelling on his own Facebook and Twitter,[3][4] and we should give some weight to his own choice, per WP:BLPSELFPUB and WP:SPNC. A full proposal might attempt to gauge actual usage in sources and news media, but it would likely be difficult and may well make no difference in this case. —Michael Z. 17:18, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
